Piedmont, AL – On Saturday, January 4th, the 11th Annual Piedmont Polar Plunge made a splash at the Piedmont Aquatic Center, bringing the community together for a frosty dip to benefit those battling cancer. The event, led by Mayor Bill Baker, continued its tradition of raising funds for the Venecia Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting cancer patients and their families.
Participants braved the icy waters, contributing $10 each to join the plunge, while spectators watched the excitement free of charge. Donations poured in as the event drew support from across the community.
“We again held the Annual Piedmont Polar Plunge—a crazy way for sure to raise money, but all for a great cause,” said Mayor Baker.
Proceeds from the event went to the Venecia Foundation, an organization inspired by the life and legacy of the late Venecia Butler. Venecia faced cancer with unwavering faith, humor, and positivity, referring to the disease as “CRAP.”
Her sister, Randa Carroll, spearheaded the Polar Plunge in Venecia’s memory, ensuring her mission to spread faith, love, and kindness continues to touch lives.
The Venecia Foundation provides comfort and support to cancer patients and their families, offering a reminder that no one fights alone. Donations can still be sent to:
