![Piedmont’s Savannah Smith and head coach Rachel Smith take the top 2024 East Alabama Sports Today Class 1A-3A All-Calhoun County awards after finishing off another successful season for the Bulldogs. Savannah Smith, a senior pitcher and middle infielder, went 17-8 in the circle with a 2.16 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 160 strikeouts in 142 1/3 innings. At the plate, she batted .365 with a .460 on-base percentage and 21 RBIs. She and her mother helped Piedmont finish 25-12 with a runner-up finish in the Calhoun County tournament, area title and fourth consecutive state-tournament appearance while finishing 25-12.
