![Alexandria’s Pressley Slaton and Brian Hess take top honors on the 2024 East Alabama Sports Today Class 4A-6A All-Calhoun County softball team. Slaton batted .440 with a .511 on-base percentage and .800 slugging percentage with 14 home runs and 55 RBIs. In the circle, she was 27-8 with a 2.28 ERA and 1.21 WHIP and 227 strikeouts. She was MVP of the Calhoun County tournament. Hess coached the Valley Cubs back to the state tournament after a year’s absence. They won the county tournament, finished 35-15-1 and went 2-2 at the state tournament, falling to 5A state champion Jasper and runner up Moody.
