The assault, which took place on October 31, 2024, during Halloween festivities in the Buckhorn Subdivision, added to the heavy congestion as families and children celebrated the holiday.
Chief Wayne Bush reported yesterday that the Weaver Police Department responded to the call at approximately 7:48 p.m., discovering a 17-year-old juvenile victim with a non-life-threatening stab wound. The victim was promptly transported to the hospital for treatment. The suspect had fled the scene before police arrival but was apprehended earlier today and now faces charges in the Juvenile Court system.
Chief Bush confirmed that the incident was isolated, involving individuals who knew each other before the altercation, and emphasized that there was no ongoing threat to the community. Off-duty officers from the Anniston, Jacksonville, and Oxford police departments assisted Weaver officers in handling the situation.
