Oxford, AL – The melodious notes of trumpets will fill the air as Jacksonville State University proudly hosts the 2024 Trumpet Festival of the Southeast. Taking place at the Oxford Performing Arts Center in Oxford, AL, from January 12th to 14th, this annual regional festival promises a harmonious blend of music, education, and camaraderie for trumpet enthusiasts, students, and educators alike.

The Trumpet Festival of the Southeast (TFSE) has become a cherished tradition, bringing together individuals passionate about the trumpet from across the region. This year’s festival is set to showcase a series of events, including concerts, masterclasses, new music sessions, and opportunities to explore industry vendors.

The festival rotates around Southeastern college campuses each year, and Jacksonville State University is honored to be the host for 2024. The Oxford Performing Arts Center will provide the perfect backdrop for this celebration of brass brilliance.

The event kicks off on Friday, January 12th, with registration from 5 pm to 8 pm, followed by an initial mass ensemble rehearsal from 6 pm to 7 pm. The highlight of the evening will be a concert featuring the talented Ashlin Parker at 7:30 pm, followed by a Jazz Jam at Coldwater Mountain Brewpub. The evening is hosted by Dr. Greg McLean, Associate Professor of Music, Assistant Chair for Online Studies, Fine Arts at Perimeter College, Georgia State University. Also Director, PC Jazz Ensemble.

Saturday, January 13th, unfolds with a day packed with trumpet-centric activities. Registration opens at 7:30 am, with a warm-up session at 8 am hosted by Dr. Matthew Fredrick from Emory & Henry College. The exhibits open at 9 am and continue until 7 pm, offering attendees the chance to explore a variety of trumpet-related resources. The day includes mass ensemble rehearsals, recitals, and features performances by renowned artists Jens Lindemann and Ashlin Parker.

The festival crescendos into its final day on Sunday, January 14th, with a professor’s round table discussion open to all attendees from 9 am to 11 am.
