2nd Suspect Arrested in Weekend Jacksonville Shooting

Jacksonville, AL – On Saturday, February 11, 2023, at approximately 3:00 pm, Jacksonville Police Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Quill Avenue (near JSU) to investigate a report of gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, officers were able to locate a victim of a gunshot wound laying on the ground. Officers called for medical assistance and provided aid to the victim until paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to RMC and is reported to be in stable condition.

Investigators were able to identify a vehicle type and issued an alert to the community to be on the lookout for a White Cadillac Escalade with tinted windows driven by a black male wearing a brown hoodie. On Sunday February 12, Investigators were later able to learn the identity of the suspect, Kyree Jalil Woods, 19, of Jacksonville. When investigators came into contact with Woods he was taken into custody and transported to the Calhoun County Jail and charged with Attempted Murder with a $60,000 bond. They were also able to locate the suspect vehicle and processed it for any possible evidence from the shooting event.

As the investigation continued a second suspect was identified as Amareea Abney, 22, of Jacksonville. On Wednesday Feb 16, 2023, Investigators were able to locate Abney and he was taken into custody and transported to the Calhoun County Jail and charged with Attempted Murder with a bond of $60,000.
