OXFORD, AL — A night celebrating Motown history is set to take place at the Oxford Performing Arts Center as The Temptations and The Four Tops are scheduled to perform on Tuesday, May 5, at 7 p.m.
The event, part of the venue’s Coca-Cola Concert Series, will bring together two of the most recognizable groups in Motown music for a single performance in Oxford.
The Temptations, widely regarded as one of the most influential vocal groups in American music, have maintained a decades-long presence in the industry. Known for chart-topping hits such as “My Girl,” “Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me),” and “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone,” the group continues to tour internationally. Dr. Otis Williams, the group’s founding and longest-tenured member, remains at the helm, guiding the ensemble through its modern era.
Sharing the stage, The Four Tops have also left a lasting mark on the Motown sound, with a catalog that includes well-known songs such as “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)” and “Reach Out I’ll Be There.” The group’s contributions to soul and R&B music have earned them recognition as one of the genre’s foundational acts.
According to event details, the performance is open to the public, with tickets available through the Oxford Performing Arts Center’s website.
The concert is expected to draw fans of classic soul and Motown, offering a live experience featuring music that has remained influential across generations.
