OXFORD, AL — The Alabama Cooperative Extension System will host an Athletic Field and Public Parks Turf Management Training meeting on Friday, June 26, at the Oxford Civic Center.
The training is designed for coaches, school personnel responsible for athletic field maintenance, and City Parks and Recreation employees who manage public athletic fields and park turf areas.
Participants will receive information on a variety of turf management topics, including mowing, aeration, topdressing, irrigation and drainage, fertility management, overseeding and seasonal transitions, pest management, soil testing, and field scouting for potential issues.
The program will be led by Dr. Dave Han, Turf Specialist with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, along with Commercial Horticulture Agents David Lawrence and Chip East.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at noon at the Oxford Civic Center, located at 401 McCullars Lane in Oxford.
There is no cost to attend, but organizers require attendees to pre-register by Wednesday, June 24.
