While admitting he’s ‘struggling’ with the choice, long-time Jacksonville Christian coach Miller will step aside from coaching, turn over reins of football and boys’ basketball to Cates.

Tommy Miller hinted at it starting at Calhoun County Quarterback Club Media Day nearly a year ago, and the long-time Jacksonville Christian coach says he will follow his family’s urging and step back from coaching.
Miller will continue as JCA’s principal and confirmed his decision while attending accrediting meetings in Tulsa, Okla. After 49 years of coaching, including 38 as a head coach, he will turn over the reins.
Rod Cates, who coached at Coosa Christian before joining Miller’s staff at JCA three years ago, will take over head-coaching roles for JCA’s football and boys’ basketball teams.
Miller turned over the baseball team to Jamie Pool before this past season.
