Calhoun County, AL – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating recent property crimes and is calling on the public for help. By encouraging community involvement, the Sheriff’s Office hopes to improve public safety and hold those accountable for these criminal activities.
Property Crime: Sometime on 6/17 a resident on Old ChoccoloccoRd reported a burglary attempt after discovering his pressure washer missing and his shed door showing clear signs of tampering. The suspect appeared to try forcing entry overnight but was unsuccessful. No surveillance footage or suspect leads were identified.
Catch of the Week: On June 16, a man named Sumner Jenkins was taken into custody after attempting to use a fake ID to try to purchase two $16,000 zero-turn lawn mowers and fleeing into nearby woods. Deputies deployed drones to locate the suspect. Jenkins faces Forged Instrument 2nd, Attempted Theft 1st and Attempted Fleeing. Another suspect, Calvin Puckett, was located nearby and identified as an accomplice.
