ANNISTON, AL — CAST Theatre, in partnership with CAPA, will present Hadestown: Teen Edition at the JSU McClellan Theatre from July 16-19, bringing the Tony Award-winning musical to the stage with a cast of local young performers accompanied by a live band.
Inspired by Greek mythology, Hadestown: Teen Edition follows two intertwined love stories—that of Orpheus and Eurydice, and Hades and Persephone. Featuring a jazz- and folk-inspired score, the musical explores themes of faith, hope, doubt and the transformative power of music.
Organizers say the production will feature live accompaniment from a band composed of local adult musicians and Jacksonville State University students. The musicians were selected by Dr. Andy Nevala, Director of Jazz Studies at Jacksonville State University, giving student performers the opportunity to work alongside experienced musicians in a live theatrical setting.
The production is directed by Scott Whitney, with Caitlyn Perkins serving as Production Stage Manager.
The cast includes:
- Orpheus – Bryant Whitney
- Eurydice – Sophie Shealy
- Hades – Ethan Spoon
- Persephone – Kynslee Haynes
- Hermes – Lilly Copland
- The Fates – Marlee Sanford, Maggie Burnell and Isabella Yanson
- Workers – JR Sobers, Londyn Simmons, Skylar Brooks, Michael McDermott, Olivia Woodward, Abigail Key and Kerrie Swain
- Ensemble – Isabel Lackey, Jill Badgett, Ramie Waters and Jencarlos Farias.
Performances are scheduled for:
- Thursday, July 16 – 7 p.m.
- Friday, July 17 – 7 p.m.
- Saturday, July 18 – 7 p.m.
- Sunday, July 19 – 2 p.m.
All performances will be held at the JSU McClellan Theatre, located at 100 Gamecock Drive in Anniston.
Ticket prices are:
- General Admission: $15
- Seniors and Military: $12
- Students: $10
