Her interest in floral design began during her teenage years while working part-time for a florist. There, she learned traditional techniques, including creating football corsages for homecoming celebrations, assembling funeral wreaths, and designing greenery backdrops for floral displays.
In 1998, her passion expanded alongside her interest in organic gardening. She began growing a wide variety of annual flowers from seed and cultivating heirloom perennial plants. Gardening also carries sentimental value, inspired in part by her mother, whose favorite indoor plants were potted geraniums and whose outdoor favorites were gladiolus grown from corms.
Her floral style favors simplicity. Rather than elaborate arrangements, she often chooses a vase with only a few stems—particularly roses—allowing each bloom to stand out on its own. These understated bouquets frequently decorate guest spaces, where their elegance can be appreciated without distraction.
Clear glass vases are among her preferred containers because they showcase the stems beneath the water while allowing natural light to enhance the flowers above. Woodland-inspired arrangements are another favorite, incorporating clippings from pine, cedar, and maple trees to provide natural greenery and texture.
