NACo Press Release

CALHOUN COUNTY, AL — Calhoun County Commission Chairman Lee Patterson has been elected to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Counties (NACo), earning a leadership position within the organization that represents county governments across the United States.

Patterson was elected during NACo’s Annual Conference and will join county officials from across the nation in helping guide the association’s strategic goals, policies and priorities on behalf of America’s 3,069 counties, parishes and boroughs.

“It is an honor to serve on the NACo Board of Directors and represent both Calhoun County and Alabama counties at the national level,” Patterson said. “Counties are on the front lines of delivering services and addressing challenges in our communities. I look forward to working with county leaders from across the country to advocate for effective policies and strengthen local government.”

As a member of the Board of Directors, Patterson will help shape the association’s priorities, oversee its operations and participate in decisions affecting NACo and its member counties.

“Chairman Patterson’s election to the NACo Board of Directors is a testament to his leadership and commitment to public service,” said Sonny Brasfield, Executive Director of the Association of County Commissions of Alabama. “This position gives Calhoun County and Alabama a stronger voice in national discussions affecting counties and the residents they serve.”

The National Association of Counties serves as the national voice for county governments, while the Association of County Commissions of Alabama represents and supports the state’s 67 counties. Patterson’s election increases Alabama’s representation within NACo and provides additional opportunities for the state’s counties to participate in national policy discussions.

During his tenure as commission chairman, Patterson has advocated for issues including infrastructure investment, economic development, public safety and the efficient delivery of county services. His election to the board reflects the confidence of county leaders nationwide in his ability to represent county governments at the national level.
