OXFORD, AL — Bre’s Ministry will host the 5th Annual Overdose Awareness Outreach Event on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, at Oxford Lake & Park, bringing together community members, families, recovery resources and faith-based support organizations for an evening focused on overdose awareness, remembrance and recovery.

The event will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. and is open to the public.

According to event organizers, the outreach is intended to honor individuals who have died from drug overdoses and fentanyl poisoning while also raising awareness about substance use and addiction. Organizers hope the event can help reduce the stigma surrounding substance use and encourage individuals who are struggling to feel more comfortable seeking assistance.

The event’s stated purpose is, “One Less Overdose, One More Restored and Living a Life of Sobriety Through Christ.”

In addition to remembering those who have died, the event will focus on offering hope and faith-based support to individuals experiencing addiction, those in recovery and families who have been affected by substance use.

Throughout the evening, attendees will have opportunities to hear from guest speakers and individuals sharing personal testimonies. Memorial moments will provide an opportunity for families and friends to remember loved ones who have died.

Community resources and vendors are also scheduled to participate, including representatives from treatment programs, recovery services and other organizations. Outreach and educational resource tables will provide information for individuals and families seeking assistance or wanting to learn more about available services.

The event will also include a live band, free food and activities for children, making the outreach accessible to families and community members of all ages.

A candlelight vigil is planned as part of the evening’s activities to honor those whose lives have been lost to overdose and fentanyl poisoning.

The 5th Annual Overdose Awareness Outreach Event will be held Saturday, Aug. 29, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Oxford Lake & Park in Oxford.
