Alabama State Surplus Online Auction Opens Saturday

State surplus property auction begins online this Saturday

MONTGOMERY, AL — A variety of surplus property, including recreational vehicles, automobiles, boats, tools, computers, furniture and restaurant and office equipment, will be available for public bidding beginning Saturday, Aug. 22.

The Surplus Property Division of the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs will conduct the online auction beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday. Bidding will continue through Sunday, Aug. 30, with individual items closing according to their listed auction times.

Information about becoming a qualified bidder is available through ADECA’s public auctions page. Once the auction opens Saturday morning, available items will be listed through the state’s GovDeals auction site.

Items offered through the auction include property no longer needed by state and federal agencies. ADECA also acquires items that have been voluntarily abandoned at several airports throughout the Southeast.

Members of the public who want to inspect items in person may visit the Surplus Property Division’s Distribution Center at 4590 Mobile Highway in Montgomery. Public viewing and inspections will be available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, through Friday, Aug. 28.

Photographs of some items scheduled for the auction have also been made available online.

ADECA conducts online public auctions periodically throughout the year. Outside of the public auctions, surplus property is available to municipal and county governments, state agencies and qualified nonprofit organizations.

All auction items are sold as is without guarantees, and sales are considered final upon pickup and removal of the property.

ADECA also administers grant programs in areas including law enforcement, victim services, economic development, energy conservation, water resource management, broadband expansion and recreation development.
