Fort McClellan Post Cemetery to Host 25th Anniversary September 11 Commemoration

ANNISTON, AL The public is invited to attend a commemoration marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 9 a.m. at Fort McClellan Post Cemetery on Goode Road.

American Legion Post 111 has been asked by the Alabama National Cemetery Complex to provide the program as part of a nationwide commemoration. Similar ceremonies will take place across Alabama, beginning at 9 a.m. The event will honor those killed in the September 11 attacks, including military veterans, firefighters, police officers and civilians, as well as those who have lost their lives in the years since, including during the War on Terror.

The ceremony will begin with a welcome by Preston Hale of American Legion Post 111, followed by an introduction of guests by Wade Leach of the Alabama National Cemetery Complex. Chaplain Jon Clark will deliver the invocation, and Stephanie Husk will perform the national anthem. The Post 111 Color Guard will raise the colors, and Girl Scout Troops 20108 and 20127 will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Emily Williams will perform “God Bless the USA.”

Miller Monument of Oxford, Benton Nissan of Oxford and Fresh Value Foods of Oxford are assisting as sponsors of the commemoration.
