GADSDEN, AL — The Gadsden State Cardinal Foundation raised thousands of dollars to support student success during its 2026 Cardinal Gala, held Thursday, October 8, at The Venue at Coosa Landing.
The annual fundraising event brought together alumni, community leaders, local businesses and supporters of Gadsden State Community College to raise money for scholarships, educational resources and other initiatives aimed at reducing financial barriers for students.
This year’s gala featured the theme “Igniting Futures – Lighting the Path to Student Success,” highlighting the foundation’s efforts to expand educational opportunities and assist students in achieving their academic and career goals.
Hillary Folsom, director of advancement and alumni relations at Gadsden State, credited community participation and donor contributions for the event’s success.
“The success of the Cardinal Gala reflects the generosity and commitment of a community that believes in the power of education,” Folsom said.
The evening included a dinner, a silent auction featuring items and experiences donated by community partners, and live entertainment provided by Gadsden State Fine Arts students and the Gadsden State Show Band.
Student volunteers assisted with guest services and event operations throughout the evening.
According to the college, more than a dozen local businesses and individuals joined as new partners during the event. The foundation reported raising thousands of dollars, although an exact fundraising total was not provided.
Following the gala, leftover meals were donated to the local Salvation Army.
The Cardinal Foundation supports Gadsden State students through scholarships and other educational assistance programs. Its fundraising efforts are intended to help students manage the costs associated with higher education and pursue academic and workforce training opportunities.
The Cardinal Gala serves as one of the college’s major annual fundraising events, connecting community donors with programs designed to support student achievement.
