Wednesday August 18, 2021 at approximately 10:00 pm the Anniston Police Department was notified of a possible gunshot victim in the area of 1800 Moore Avenue. Upon arrival officers and investigators located a male on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers requested medical assistance and the victim, Maurice M. McCauley, 33, of Anniston was transported to NEARMC where he died from his injuries.
Two other individuals were also during the incident, but the injuries were non-life threatening.
Investigators are still actively working on identifying a possible suspect by interviewing witnesses and reviewing the physical evidence from the crime scene.
