On Friday night prior to the Golden Eagles vs. Wildcats game, some of this years graduating seniors were recognized for their involvement with the football team, cheer squad, and marching band.
These students not only worked hard to achieve their senior status but they worked countless hours to participate in extra-curricular activities showing their dedication to their school.
Each student was announced by name and who escorted them on for this honorable recognition. This list below is how the students were introduced to the crowd.
Football Players:
- Cole Gaddy was escorted by Craig and Tori Gaddy. Cole has played football for 6 years and was a 4 year starter. He was All-County Honorable Mention in 2015 and 2017 and was Second Team All-County in 2016.
- Josh Bell was escorted by Malinda and James Bell. Josh has played football for five years and was second team all-county in 2017, as well as the JHS Defensive Lineman of the year in 2017.
- Jamari Burrell was escorted by Victoria Burrell-Huntley and Tarrance Huntley. Jamari has played football for 6 years.
- Jewels Gray was escorted by Chandler Gray and Tracy Mays. Jewels has played football for 4 years. He was a two time all county Wide Receiver, and a Calhoun County Quarterback Club outstanding player of the week.
- Braeden Hodge was escorted by Scott and Delane Hodge. Braeden has played football football for 6 years.
- Qua Jones was escorted by Aleka Weatherly and Otis Weatherly. Qua has played football for 4 years.
- Ross Knight was escorted by Beth Knight. Ross has played football for 6 years.
- Carter Landers was escorted by Steven and Paige Landers. Carter has played football for 6 years.
- Taye Loud was escorted by Alwassa Brown and Delvecchio Loud. Taye has played football for six years and was second team all-county in 2017.
- Dylan Murphy was escorted by Kristi Wood and Matt Tillison. Dylan was this year’s student athletic trainer.
- Jonathan Parker was escorted by Lori and Charles Parker. Jonathan has played football for 6 years. He was a two year starter and was an honorable mention in the region this season.
- Dylan Peoples was escorted by Deborah Peoples. Dylan has played football for 4 years.
- Jacob Skala was escorted by John Skala and Stephanie Moore. Jacob has played football for 3 years and was all-county honorable mention in 2017.
- Billy Whitson was escorted by Tanokia Massey, Tayanna Perry, Tykeria Perry, and Tanasia Whitson.
Upon completion of the senior football players the senior cheerleaders were announced.
Cheerleaders:
- Stephanie Armstrong was escorted by Stephen Armstrong, Michelle Tillman, Breonte Young, and Hailey Armstrong. Stephanie has cheered for 3 years and was the current Captain of the Varsity Cheerleaders.
- Katlyn Prater was escorted by Patrick and Crystal Prater. Carlie has cheered for 6 years.
- Jordyn Rosier was escorted by Jennifer Rosier. Jordyn has cheered for 5 years and was a UCA All-American.
- Journey Spears was escorted by Kathan Spears and Clancy Brown. Journey has cheered for 6 years and was the current captain of the Varsity Cheerleaders. She was also a UCA All-American.
- Jahlexia Stripling was escorted by Stephanie Stripling. Jahlexia has cheered for 5 years and was a UCA All-American. She also served as Captain for the JV team in 2015 and competed one year with the JHS Competition Cheerleaders.
The graduating senior band members were then announced and introduced to the crowd.
Band Members:
- Madi Champion was escorted by Robi and Tracy Champion and Colton Clough. Madi has been a marching member for 6 years.
- Brandon Cummings was escorted by Richard Cummings and Heather Cummings. Brandon has been a marching member for 6 years. He was a center snare, the Captain of the drum line, member of the P.I.V., and a four time best in class percussionist.
- River Dunaway was escorted by Tammy Couch and Danny Whaley. River has been a marching member for 6 years. He served as the Percussion Captain for 2 years, was a member of the P.I.V., was a best in class percussionist for four years, and is Section Leader this year.
- Sara Melton was escorted by Tia Parks. She has been a marching member for 6 years and currently serves as Drum Major. She was a Principle Chair Flute, received the Worldstrides Maestro Award, and was a best in class drum major.
- Elvis Morales was escorted by Leticia Gomoz and Trinidad Reyes. Elvis has been in the marching band for 6 years. He made all-state in 2017 and was in the Etowah Youth Orchestra for one year. Elvis was now serving as the Head Captain of the brass section.
- Ammon Record was escorted by Andrea Record and Kenneth Record. Ammon has been a marching member for 5 years, and has been the low brass Section Leader for two years.
- Taylie Rhodes was escorted by Scott and Alane Rhodes. Taylie has been a marching member for 4 years, and is currently the Majorette Captain and is on the leadership team.
- Noah Sanders was escorted by Michael and Fran Sanders. Noah has been a marching member for 7 years. He was a woodwind Captain and has been a member of the JHS Jazz Band for three years.
- Gyles Smith was escorted by Fred Smith and Dwayne Smith. Gyles has been a marching member for 6 years. He was a drum line Section Leader, a four time best in class percussionist, eight time superior percussionist, and member of the P.I.V.
- Madison Watson was escorted by Jim and Marita Watson. Madison has been a marching member for 3 years, was a best in class percussionist, and was the front ensemble Section Leader.
- Peter Wight was escorted by Mr. and Mrs. Wight. Peter has been a marching member for 6 years, was an all district honor band member, Principle Trumpet for 3 years, and is the Brass Captain.
After each of the graduating seniors were announced everyone took a final moment to thank all of the senior families for their support and to thank the seniors for giving their talent to the Jacksonville High School Golden Eagles. The seniors then made their way off the field to take pictures with friends and family before taking their prospective places with their teams.
