On November 7, 2021 the Jacksonville Fire Department was dispatched to the Pheasant Run apartment complex [see article]. Today the City of Jacksonville Police Department and the Fire Department issued a press release that they had conducted an arson investigation over the past week and were able to determine that the fire was in fact Arson.
Two suspects were taken into custody and charged with Arson in the 1st degree. Bradley Tate Moore, 46, of Jacksonville and Gayla Sue Moore, 66, of Jacksonville were both taken into custody and transported to the Calhoun County Jail. The Moore’s are related as Mother and Son and both have been issued a bond at $30, 000.
As per every residential fire, the Fire Marshall works diligently to identify the cause of the fire. The investigation began immediately and it was identified that the cause was more than likely arson. During the past week the Marshall’s were able to identify the cause and also were able to identify the suspects through the evidence collected at the fire scene.
Chief Wood expressed thanks for Jacksonville Fire Department, Fire Marshall Chris Collins of Jacksonville Fire, the State Fire Marshall Riley Foshee and his arson K-9 “Jimpy”, Fire Marshall Capt. Jason Brown of the Anniston Fire Department, and Matt Cross with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The Chief stated that there are no federal charges expected and the ATF was only here to support the local investigation.
City Councilman Tony Taylor stated that he also wanted to thank the Jacksonville Fire Department and Police Department, and all of the agencies that helped with identifying this horrible crime and making this arrest.
