The Calhoun Journal spoke to Josh Robinson, Dean of Students, about the event and he is very excited about the opportunity to support the community and invite all to participate on the campus.
Buffy Lockette, JSU Director of Strategic Communications, shared that the community is invited to attend JSU’s second annual Family Fun Day on Saturday, April 16, at the President’s House. The day will begin at 10:30 am with a 5K Fun Run around campus hunting for “hidden Cockys.” The event is open to runners, joggers and walkers. Everyone who completes the course will receive a finisher medal. The entry fee is $25, which includes a race t-shirt, and all proceeds will benefit JSU scholarships.
Family Fun Day will kick off at 12 p.m. on the lawn of the President’s House, with a petting zoo, face painting, carnival games, music and an opportunity to sign up for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Free Chick-fil-A and ice cream will be served from 12-2 p.m. At 1 p.m., Delta Chi and Alpha Xi Delta will sponsor egg hunts, split into the following age groups: under age 2, 2-4, 5-7, and 8-10. Please register your child for the egg hunt online. Family Fun Day is free, donations are being collected for Rockin’ P Rescue to support rescue dogs.

First established in 2021 as the family focused event of Inauguration Week, Family Fun Day was such a success that organizers knew – even before heading home that day – it had to become an annual tradition. The entire community is invited to attend the egg-stravaganza. Please make plans to attend the following festivities.
10:30 a.m. – 5K Fun Run
