Piedmont, AL – Piedmont Police Chief Nathan Johnson issued a press release detailing the arrest of Danny Eric Wheeler age 29 of Piedmont. The warrant was for Rape 2nd. After further investigation Danny Wheeler was also charged with Sodomy 2nd, Sexual Abuse 2nd, Possession of Child Pornography, and three counts of Production of Pornography with a minor. Danny Wheeler is currently held in the Calhoun County Jail with a total bond set at $213,000 with a preliminary hearing set August 25th at 1:30 pm at the Calhoun COunty County. At this time there is no further information released due to the sensitive nature of the case.
The Chief did make a note that when a defendant is charged with a crime they are presumed innocent unless prove guilty in a court of law.
