Weaver, AL – The city of Weaver City Council met for the regally called work session and city council meeting on Tuesday, December 13th, 2022.

- Director Joey Conger mentioned that a 2011 Ford F150 is having issues with the transmission and speedometer. The estimate to repair it is $6,185.95. A second vehicle is having minor issues as well and the limb truck is having hydraulic issues and push button problems. Mayor Clendenning mentioned that the the cost of a new vehicle is $30,000-50,000 and there is that much remaining in the COVID Cares funds. No decisions were made on the vehicles and further estimates will be received to fix all three before decisions are made.

- Mister Chlorinator Company, Inc. Service Agreement – Unanimously Approved
- This is a 10 year agreement to continue existing service for maintenance and repairs of the chlorination system. This is not for the purchase of chlorine.
- Mayor Clendenning did mention a grant program to get employees certified with a CDL as well as hazmat certification. This would allow transport of chlorine by city employees and reduce the cost by roughly 50%.
- Drug Policy/Safety Policy – Unanimously Approved
- The policy is being modified in two parts.
- The first is that the drug policy will now be for all full-time and part-time employees. All employees will be presented with he policy and will sign that they are aware of it. This is a change from only employees with a CDL being subject to the policy previously.
- The second change was that the official administrator of the policy will be the Mayor or his designee. This is a change from the city clerk.
- The policy is being modified in two parts.
- Condemned Building – Alexandria Road/Russell Drive – Unanimously Approved
- The previous contract has expired and the work was not completed. An agreement will be signed with Teague Hauling and Demo, LLC for $4,500 to complete the demolition.
- Bereavement Days for City Employees
- The civil service board is working on changing the official policy to have three days of bereavement for immediate family and one day for extended family. The Mayor will administer any bereavement requests between now and the policy going into place.
- Park Restrooms
- The bathroom construction is set to begin in two-weeks. The contracted timeline is 90 days to complete all work. 100% of the funds to pay for the restrooms is coming from COVID Cares funds which can only be used on certain types of projects. No monies are coming from general funds.

- Mayor’s Report
- Mayor Clendenning wanted to thank the United Methodist Church for providing lunch earlier this week to all employees.
- He also wanted to note that on 12/22 the city will host a lunch for all city employees and volunteer firefighters. The lunch is also for spouses. The menu will consist of T-bones, baked potatoes, and macaroni and cheese. All those attending should notify Chief Bunn by Friday of this week.
- Public Comments
- Mike Warren presented the current numbers for the Transit Authority Board. The board tracks how many people are using the bus system and the also works to ensure that only Weaver residents are being listed under the city’s numbers.
