    • RRCA Friendly Community Plaque Award
      • The Anniston City Council and Anniston Runners Club are proud to announce that Anniston has been designated as a Runner Friendly Community by the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) for 2022 through 2027! The RRCA’s goal is to shine a national spotlight on communities that standout as runner-friendly!
        The application process for this designation evaluates many city-wide factors. The goal is for applicants to prove that their community works together to meet the criteria to provide for a safe running community.
        Being a Runner Friendly Community lets the world know that our city has a network of pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, multi-use trails, and paths!
        This designation is a great honor for our community as we continue to develop and invest in our outdoor amenities and recreation opportunities! Thank you to the Anniston Runners Club for leading the way on earning our city this tremendous recognition!

    • Resolution authorizing reimbursements to city officials for expenses incurred while traveling away from the city
    • Resolution to appoint a member to the Zoning Board of Adjustments
      Resolution appointing members to the Technical Codes Board of Adjustment and Appeals
    • Motion to amend the Pay and Classification Plan to include a job description for Airport Facilities and Maintenance Manager
    • Motion to approve bid for re-roofing of Berman Museum to Garner & Associates in the amount of $238,600.00
    • Motion to approve bid for re-roofing and repairs for Cane Creek Clubhouse to Alabama Roofing & Sheet Metal in the amount of $543,400.00
    • Motion to approve $33,000 to the Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama to replace destroyed Korean War Memorial in Centennial Park with funds from general funds as follows: $25,000 reimbursable from insurance settlement and $8,000 from Reserve (contingency) line item
    • Resolution authorizing the City of Anniston to join the State of Alabama and other local governments as participants in current opioid settlements

  • Public Comments
    • Bud Turner – 4708 Amberwood Lane
      • Judge Bud Turner wanted to speak about the courthouse parking. There were some concerns that in a $50 million dollar building there are only 50 parking spots. He also got a master calendar and really analyzed how many may be using parking at any one time. He then presented this report to each council members to review.
    • Glen Ray – 3514 Dale Hollow Road
      • Mr. Ray wanted to acknowledge the Police Chief and thank him. He did want to note that there are times when they have to expect officers to do the right thing. He also offered to always help if there is anything to do.
    • Shawana Hill – 2630 Wilmer Avenue – Not present
    • Richard Jackson – 2317 Noble Street
      • Mrs. Hill has been having a recurring flooding issue each time it rains. This is also happening with her neighbors. Pictures were provided as well. He requested that the city had an engineer look at the situation and see what might can be done to addresses these matter. He also wanted to address the downtown reimbursement program. He has requested that the boundaries be expanded to include the more areas in downtown Historic Anniston. He believes that there is not enough 9of west Anniston included. He also wanted to note that on the 25th the NAACP will have a Black History Month Talent Show. This will be the first of many and the hope is for this to be a annual event.
  • Council Comments
    • Council member Jenkins had no comments.
    • Councilmember Roberts thanked all for coming out and asked that we all pray for the city. He acknowledged that there are many things that can’t be controlled, but there are many that can. He also noted that there was is a problem with guns. He also asked the chief if he saw a group of kids hanging ut that looked like they might get in trouble please stop them and check for guns.
    • Council member Harris wanted to note the park projects, arts and entertainments, appeals process for code enforcement, trailhead, airport manager, opioid lawsuit, and the UAB affliction with RMC. She wanted to really remind all of all the things that are happening in Anniston.
    • Council member Smith thanked all for speaking. She assured Judge Turner she would review the inflation shared. She also addressed Mr. Ray to ensure that she did personally help Ms. Hill get connected with the right city officials. She wasn’t sure if the problem was on city property or personal, but she would follow-up.
