WHITE PLAINS — Leighton Arnold homered twice and drove in five runs, and White Plains beat Jacksonville 12-1 in Saturday’s Class 4A, Area 10 final.
Both teams advanced to the East Regional in Albertville and will face opponents to be determined.
Callie Richardson pitched a four-hitter over five innings against Jacksonville, striking out three batters. She also had two doubles and two RBIs.
Kannon Slaughter hit a solo home run for White Plains (28-14), and Sara Kate Adams hit a solo home run for Jacksonville (14-16).
White Plains beat Jacksonville 14-4 in the winners’ bracket final earlier Saturday. Hallie Williams hit an inside-the-park grand slam in the fourth inning and drove in five runs for the game.
Richardson had a triple and double and an RBI, and Cassidy Arnold went 2-for-4 with a double and run. Karli Otwell had two singles, three runs and two RBIs.
Richardson and Leighton Arnold combined to hold Jacksonville to three hits, and each had five strikeouts.
OXFORD RUNNER UP: Oxford advanced to the 6A, Area 12 final by beating Clay Chalkville 10-0 but lost to Pell City in the final, 12-0.
Kenlee Rodgers homered, hit a triple and drove in two runs against Clay Chalkville. Kaelyn Crossley and Raina Zachery each had a triple, and Crossley drove in three runs. Zachary, who also had a double, drove in one run.
Emma Tims-Becerra doubled and scored a run.
Crossley pitched a five-hit shutout with seven strikeouts.
Regular season
PIEDMONT WINS THREE: On a day that featured an Emma Grace Todd no-hitter, Piedmont won three games in the Hokes Bluff Pre-Area Tournament at Gadsden State, beating Southside 3-0, Oak Mountain 4-2 and Munford 5-3.
Against Southside, Todd allowed no hits and no walks with three strikeouts. She hit one batter.
Savannah Smith and Carson Young each had a hit and RBI.
Against Munford, Young and Smith combined to hold the Lions to four hits, and Young had two RBIs. Jaycee Glover had a single and three RBIs.
Jenna Calvert and Cacey Brothers each had two hits, and both had a double.
Against Oak Mountain, Smith pitched a complete game with six strikeouts and hit a solo home run. Sarah Goss went 2-for-3 with a double, run and RBI, and Brothers was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Glover had a double and scored a run.
