Anniston, AL – The Anniston Police Department has recently been receiving numerous community complaints about illegal gambling establishments and initiated an investigation. After investigators were able to secure enough evidence they secured search warrants for two separate properties.

On May 10, 2023 at approximately 5pm, the Anniston Police Department executed two simultaneous search warrants, the first at 627 Noble Street and the second, at 1128 Clydesdale Ave. Once officers secured the building and detained several people, they began to confiscate the illegal gaming devises and process any additional evidence. Approximately 25 illegal devices were removed from each location along with other incriminating evidence.

Criminal warrants for people are expected to be obtained once all of the evidence is processed. Chief Nick Bowles said, “These types of gambling places often breed other more dangerous crimes such as armed robbery and dangerous narcotic sales. We will continue to shut down these types of establishments as quickly as we find them”.

The Anniston Police Department is aware of other establishments and will be working to conduct similar operations against them in the near future.
