Weaver, AL – Cities with no at-fault damages to Spire’s infrastructure are honored with the Silver Shovel award.
The City of Weaver has been granted a Silver Shovel award from Spire for practicing safe digging in recognition of a year with no damages to gas pipelines, Spire is honoring five Alabama municipalities with the annual Silver Shovel award, recognizing safe excavation near Spire’s facilities.
“Putting safety first is at the heart of what we do at Spire,” said Alan Meyer, Spire damage prevention manager. “We want to thank these municipalities who are also prioritizing safety with every dig. By doing so, they have protected their employees and communities.”
To be awarded, a municipality must be located within Spire’s service territory, a member in good standing of Alabama 811 and have no at-fault damages to Spire’s facilities in 2022. Spire’s Damage Prevention and Right of Way teams created the Silver Shovel award in 2019 to encourage municipalities in the company’s service territories to work more safely.
