UPDATED: Oxford Fire Department On Scene for Fatal Fire

Oxford, AL – Per the Oxford Fire Department they is still on scene of the fire on north Main St. Main St remains totally blocked. The original statement was that the department was working a fatality fire on Main St and to please avoid the area.

Update: On June 20 at 1:56 am the Oxford Fire Department received a structure fire call at 24 Main Street in Oxford. The first truck arrived on scene at 2:00 am to heavy fire conditions and occupants trapped inside the structure. Fire Crews were able to locate an 8-year-old female and removed her to safety. She was treated by Oxford Health System Paramedics and transported to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. Three other occupants were transported to Regional Medical Center, treated and released. Also upon arrival, fire crews located two adult males that were determined to be deceased. Representatives of the City of Oxford stated, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims that were injured and to the families of the deceased.” The road is open now.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s office with assistance from Oxford Fire Department and Oxford Police Department. All inquires should be directed to the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s office.
