      • This modification was to change minor housekeeping measures to bring to language up-to-date.
    • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) Services Resolution – Unanimously Approved
      • It was noted in discussions that there will be no administrative costs to employees.
    • Camp McClellan Horse Trails RTP Grant – Archeological Study Resolution – Unanimously Approved
      • The cost to apply is $3,700 that is non reimbursable.
    • City of Heflin – Inmate Housing Agreement – Unanimously Approved
      • This is for the housing of inmates at the Calhoun County Jail
    • Anniston EMS Agreement – Unanimously Approved
      • This is a $30,000 appropriation.
    • County Board of Equalization Nominations – Unanimously Approved
      • The two nominees to be submitted were Dr. Marlon Jones and to continue in the position he currently holds, Jamie “Red” Etheredge.
    • Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grants:
      • City of Anniston – Unanimously Approved
        • This is a shared grant for radios for law enforcement. The Counties portion would be $19,915.20.
      • Drug Task Force – Unanimously Approved
        • This is for the 7th Judicial Circuit not to exceed $40,000.
    • EMA Telephone Service – TCI/Bridge Communications Agreement – Unanimously Approved
    • Surplus Property Resolution – Stadium Bleachers – Unanimously Approved
      • This is for declaring the collapsable coliseum bleachers and benches as surplus. These items would be sold through govedeals.
      • There was some discussion from Commissioner Henderson who had not seen the details prior to the vote. She noted she didn’t oppose the disposal, but it was important to understand the details prior to voting on any issue.
    • ARPA Project Resolution – Building & Earth-GEO Tech Professional Services for Jail – Unanimously Approved                                                                                           Medical/Mental Health Unit
  • Public Comments
    • A representative from the Agency for Substance Abuse Prevention wanted to remind all about the Community Resource event later that day and the Barbers Against Bullets event in Talledega on July 31st.
    • Audrey Maxwell with the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce mentioned visitors to OPAC from the Ms. Alabama Volunteer Pageant and the upcoming Rubato Piano Competition.
    • David West with the County Extension Office thanked all that supported the Calhoun County Beautification Award Luncheon.  He also noted that Camp Can Creek has completed successfully.
    • A representative from Anniston EMS thanked the Commission for their support.
    • Commissioner Terry Howell mentioned a new 501(c)(3) that recently has been formed. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Foundation is a tax exempt non-profit started to support the Calhoun County Sheriff Office. 100% of donations received will go to supporting the office. There are currently three options for donating 1. General Items that the Sheriff may need financial assistance with. 2. Camera tag readers. 3. Deputy needs assistance with would go to help any deputy injured while actively serving the county. Commissioner Howell asked that all go to the facebook page and like the new organization or donate through the website.
    • Commissioner Danny Shears shared that the Community and Neighbors Nonprofit is holding a meeting on Friday, July 28th and if anyone is interested in tickets they can reach out to him. This organization gives food to the needy.
    • He also mentioned to importance of the Rubato Piano Competition in bringing an international spotlight on the Calhoun County community.
    • It was also noted that on August the 3rd at 5pm there will be a public hearing on the Redistricting map. This is open to the public.
