Calhoun County, AL – When the Calhoun Journal started it was with a desire to create one single location where readers could find out what was happening around their home. The Journal was started to be a free resource and that will never change. Less than two years after launch, readership is now exceeding 60,000 a week. One of the best parts of starting the Journal has been the collaboration with local writers who also have wanted to contribute to their community. There have been fruitful collaborations with other news sources as well, that have expanded the offerings. To this end, the Calhoun Journal would like to formally announce our newest collaboration with Calhoun County Mom.

The Calhoun County Mom (CCM) is the brainchild of Lauryn Moore and is supported by Brittany Pinkard. The creation of CCM was started with a heart calling from Lauryn Moore that came to fruition in 2023, born out of a need for a space where moms could find all the events and happenings for kids and families in the local area. Shortly after CCM exploded on the scene, Lauryn reached out to Brittany Pinkard to partner with her to take on this vision together. The two became not only co-creators, business partners, and the smiling faces behind Calhoun County Mom, but they became friends and part of each other’s village – the village that they strive to create daily within Calhoun County Mom. Lauryn stated, “We support our communities and we are committed to their growth. At CCM our mission is to connect the village, support the community, and help your family find adventures and make memories.”

Both organizations wanted to be a free source of information for the residents of Calhoun County so it seemed a perfect duo. Lauryn stated, “When Lee offered us the opportunity to collaborate with Calhoun Journal we jumped at the chance. It’s a huge step forward to the amazing growth we have planned for CCM. We want to reach a broader audience and provide a streamlined way for families to be able to get involved in their communities and to enjoy all the events and local businesses our area has to offer. We couldn’t think of a better pairing! Calhoun County Mom is stepping into the collaboration with overwhelming gratitude and excitement in being a part of the Calhoun Journal family. We are committed to bringing value to not only Calhoun County Moms, but to Calhoun Journal readers as well. We look forward to using this tool to create an even greater connection into this community. ”

CCM now has their own section as a part of the Journal. The look and feel will be different, but readers will see many similar elements. The events listed with CCM will also be on the main local events page, but they will be specifically for families, kids, teens, and moms. There will be articles written by CCM that will be unique to them alone, but sometimes the articles might make it to the main Journal page, such as the spotlight on Weaver’s Elwell Park. The CCM site will be growing to include many features over the next few months so keep checking back. Regardless of what page readers are on, there are always links to navigate to other pages from the Journal and CCM. Both CCM and the Journal hope our unified readers can enjoy this expanded free resource for knowing, loving, and experiencing all that Calhoun County has to offer!
