Jacksonville, AL – Per the Director of Strategic Communications for JSU, Buffy Lockette, Jacksonville State University (JSU) President Don C. Killingsworth, Jr. has earned a prestigious spot among the ranks of Leadership Alabama, a diverse assembly of influential leaders hailing from various sectors across the state. These leaders have been selected for their unwavering commitment to advancing Alabama’s potential to its fullest.
In expressing his gratitude for this honor, Dr. Killingsworth, a lifelong Alabamian, stated, “As a lifelong Alabamian, I am honored to join this outstanding group of leaders in addressing the issues and exploring the opportunities that impact the future of our state.”
Founded in 1990, Leadership Alabama operates as a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to fostering a network of leaders who possess a shared understanding of the challenges and priorities shaping Alabama’s destiny.
Gordon G. Martin, senior vice president at Alabama Power and a former board chair of Leadership Alabama, underscored the unique value of the program, saying, “Like no other program, Leadership Alabama exposes established leaders to both the challenges that face the people of our state and the myriad of opportunities. But even more importantly, it spurs people to action and establishes lasting relationships among leaders that can lead to a better Alabama.”
Over the years, Leadership Alabama has graduated over 1,600 leaders who have gone on to make significant contributions to the state. As a member of the program’s esteemed 33rd class, Killingsworth will embark on a journey that will take him to communities across Alabama. During his participation, he will engage in educational programs designed to delve into the multifaceted social, economic, and governmental issues confronting the state.
A native of Alexander City, Alabama, Don C. Killingsworth, Jr. has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to his home state throughout his impressive 22-year career. His dedication to Alabama is exemplified by his roles as chair of the boards of Leadership Calhoun County and the Calhoun County Area Chamber and Visitors Center. Additionally, he actively participates in the Jacksonville Exchange Club, Rotary Club, and Jacksonville First United Methodist Church.
