Anniston, AL – Hayley H. Long and the Anniston Runners Club (ARC) are gearing up to host the annual Plucked Turkey 10K at the Norwood Hodges Community Center on Thursday, November 23rd, starting at 8:00 am. What initially began as a Thanksgiving morning run has evolved into a cherished community tradition that not only promotes fitness but also contributes to a charitable cause.
Participants are invited to kick off their Thanksgiving celebrations by running the scenic 6.2-mile certified course through the picturesque Golden Springs community. This ARC event serves as a fundraiser for the YMCA, emphasizing the spirit of giving back to the community.
The event is designed for all fitness levels, welcoming both runners and walkers to join the festivities. Families are encouraged to participate together, fostering a sense of community and healthy activity.
A highlight of the Plucked Turkey 10K is the exciting array of prizes awaiting the participants. The overall male and female winners will be awarded a succulent Turkey Breast courtesy of The Honey Baked Ham Company. Second and third place finishers in both male and female categories will be treated to delicious Yummy Pies.
Age group awards add an extra layer of competition, with categories spanning from 9 and under to 80+ and over, ensuring recognition for participants of all ages.
To add a festive touch to the event, the first 125 registrants will receive a special commemorative bamboo wooden spatula spoon engraved with the Plucked Turkey Logo. This unique registration gift adds a personal touch to the Thanksgiving-themed event.
The course has been certified, and chip timing will be implemented, allowing participants to utilize their results for races that require corral timing, such as the Peachtree 10K.
Runners and walkers alike are encouraged to register early for the Plucked Turkey 10K through the official event page.
