Honoring Fallen Heroes: Wreaths Across America Event at Anniston’s Fort McClellan Military Cemetery

Wreaths Across America

Anniston, AL – The McClellan Development Authority, in collaboration with Visit Calhoun County, Alabama, and The City of Anniston, invites the community to join a poignant event at the Fort McClellan Military Cemetery on Saturday, December 16th, at 11:00 am. The ceremony, part of the nationwide initiative known as Wreaths Across America, aims to Remember, Honor, and Teach by placing remembrance wreaths on the graves of fallen soldiers.

Located at 540 Goode Road, Anniston, AL 36205, the Fort McClellan Military Cemetery holds the resting place for over 400 fallen soldiers, and the community is encouraged to participate in this heartfelt tribute.

Every December, Wreaths Across America coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and more than 3,400 additional locations across all 50 U.S. states, at sea, and abroad. Fort McClellan is honored to be a part of this nationwide initiative, providing an opportunity for the local community to come together and pay respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Attendees are invited to join in the ceremony, where each name of the fallen soldiers will be read aloud, and a remembrance wreath will be placed on their headstones. It’s a meaningful way to remember the brave men and women who served our country.

During this holiday season, Wreaths Across America offers a powerful opportunity to unite as a community and reflect on the significance of the sacrifices made by the military. Interested individuals can support this initiative by attending the event, volunteering their time, or sponsoring a wreath.

To sponsor a wreath or volunteer for the wreath-laying ceremony, individuals can visit the Fort McClellan Military Cemetery Wreaths Across America Page. Click the red “Sponsor” button to contribute or the “Volunteer” button to participate in the ceremony.
