Generosity Unveiled: Del Marsh Gifts Northeast Alabama Bicycle Association with Ownership of Historic Headquarters in Anniston

Exciting News for Northeast Alabama Bicycle Association

Anniston, AL – In a heartwarming gesture of community spirit and support, local businessman Del Marsh has gifted the Northeast Alabama Bicycle Association (NEABA) the ultimate Christmas present – ownership of the cherished building that has served as the club’s home for nearly seven years. The news was first shared via the Northeast Alabama Bicycle Association’s facebook page.

Back in 2017, Del Marsh and his wife Ginger leased the property at 26 W 10th Street to NEABA. Recently, when NEABA approached the Marshes seeking an extension of their lease agreement, the generous couple decided to take it a step further and officially transfer the deed of ownership of the 113-year-old structure to the non-profit organization.

Expressing their delight in contributing to the vibrant cycling community, Marsh stated, “Ginger and I are pleased to provide this building to the bike club to continue its mission of providing a wonderful space for bike enthusiasts and others to meet and socialize while promoting cycling in Calhoun County and beyond.”

The historic headquarters not only houses NEABA but also serves as the base for its sister club, the Anniston Runners Club. Both clubs share a common goal of fostering a sense of community by organizing fitness-related events and activities, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors in the area.

Ken Hickman, the President of NEABA, emphasized the significance of the headquarters, saying, “Our headquarters in historic downtown Anniston isn’t just a building to the membership of NEABA, it is home for our local cycling community.” He added, “All of this would not be possible without the amazing generosity of former State Senator Del Marsh.”

To celebrate this momentous occasion, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebration event are scheduled at the NEABA Headquarters located at 26 W 10th Street, Anniston, on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 5 pm. The public is cordially invited to join in the festivities and witness the community spirit in action.
