Governor Ivey Commemorates Alabama School Choice Week with Rally

Montgomery, AL – In a notable event, Governor Kay Ivey took part in a school choice rally on Monday to acknowledge and celebrate Alabama’s K-12 educational options. The rally, hosted at the Alabama State Capitol on the front steps, provided a platform for Governor Ivey to highlight the diverse educational choices available to students in the state.

Governor Ivey championed the importance of educational choices for students and families by proclaiming January 21 through January 27, 2024, as Alabama School Choice Week. This proclamation reflects the state’s commitment to recognizing and appreciating the various educational options accessible to K-12 students.

The rally unfolded at the Alabama State Capitol, located at 600 Dexter Avenue, Montgomery, AL 36104. The front steps of this historic building served as the gathering point, emphasizing the state’s commitment to supporting a diverse and inclusive educational environment.

During her address, Governor Ivey spoke about the positive impact of school choice on students’ lives. She emphasized the importance of providing families with the freedom to choose the educational path that aligns with their values and aspirations.

“In Alabama, we believe in the power of choice. School Choice Week is a celebration of the diverse options available to our students, empowering them to pursue an education that best suits their needs and goals,” Governor Ivey shared.

The rally showcased the diverse educational options available in Alabama, including public schools, private schools, charter schools, and homeschooling.
