Oxford, AL – In response to a critical blood shortage impacting local hospitals, the City of Oxford Healthcare Authority is rallying the community to participate in a three-day blood drive in collaboration with LifeSouth. The drive is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, February 6, through Thursday, February 8, at the Friendship Community Center, located at 2930 Friendship Road in Oxford, operating from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Winter storms in the region have left the local blood supply at alarmingly low levels, prompting the urgent need for blood donations. The community is encouraged to step up and contribute to replenishing the blood supply during this critical time of year, marked by weather-related cancellations of blood drives and a decline in donor participation.
All blood donors will be appreciated for their life-saving contributions and will receive a $25 e-gift card, available while supplies last. Platelet and double red donors will receive an additional $20 e-gift card as a token of gratitude for their generosity.

Potential blood donors should meet certain criteria, including being at least 17 years old (16 with parental permission), weighing a minimum of 110 pounds, and being in good health. A valid photo ID is required for the donation process.
