How to Attract Pollinators to Your Garden

Anniston, AL – As winter’s chill begins to loosen its grip, garden enthusiasts in Anniston are eagerly looking forward to the promise of vibrant blooms and the return of pollinators. To kickstart the gardening season, the Anniston Museum and Gardens is hosting an insightful event titled “How to Attract Pollinators to Your Garden,” featuring Lisa Bartlett, Garden Manager for the Smith-Gilbert Gardens.

Scheduled for Thursday, February 15th, at 12:00 pm, the event will take place at the Longleaf Event Center within the museum premises. Lisa Bartlett, an expert in horticulture, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with attendees.

Bear and Sons

Lisa is the driving force behind the maintenance of over 4,000 species of plants at Smith-Gilbert Gardens, encompassing everything from rare herbaceous perennials to unique and unusual trees, including one of the southeast’s most extensive Bonsai collections. Notably, she is the visionary behind the award-winning Butterfly Exhibit established in 2017. In 2018, Lisa introduced the first-of-its-kind Crevice Garden in Georgia, showcasing her innovative approach to gardening.

With a passion for hydrangeas, Lisa has served on the board of the American Hydrangea Society and is currently working towards creating a nationally recognized collection of Hydrangea. Adding to her accolades, Lisa hosted her own gardening call-in radio show, “Green and Grow,” offering valuable insights and tips to gardening enthusiasts.

Attendees of the “How to Attract Pollinators to Your Garden” event are encouraged to bring their own lunch, creating an interactive and communal atmosphere. Refreshments, in the form of provided waters, will ensure everyone stays hydrated while delving into the world of gardening secrets.

The Third Thursday program is priced at $5 per person, offering a fantastic opportunity for non-members to engage with expert advice. However, members of the Anniston Museum and Gardens can attend the event free of charge, making it an exclusive benefit for those invested in the museum’s diverse offerings.
