U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers Joins Amicus Brief Supporting Texas in Border Security Battle

Washington D.C. – U.S. Representative Mike Rogers (AL-03) has added his signature to an Amicus Brief in solidarity with the State of Texas, endorsing their ongoing efforts to fortify the US-Mexico border. Texas has found itself embroiled in a legal dispute with the Biden Administration over the state’s constitutional authority to repel what they deem an invasion at their southern border.

The Amicus Brief, a legal document filed by individuals or groups who are not part of the litigation but share a common interest in the case, emphasizes support for Texas’ endeavors to address border security concerns. Rep. Rogers underlined his approval of Texas’ commitment to safeguarding their southern border against the influx of illegal migrants.

Expressing his stance on the matter, Rep. Rogers stated, “I was glad to sign on to this Amicus Brief in support of the State of Texas’ efforts to secure their southern border and stop the invasion of illegal migrants.” He referenced the alarming statistics from the year 2023, where an estimated 2.5 million migrants entered the country through the US-Mexico border, averaging a staggering 10 thousand per day.

Drawing a comparison to a past administration, Rep. Rogers highlighted the discrepancy between the current situation and the stance taken by President Obama’s Secretary of Homeland Security, who considered 1 thousand illegal border crossings per day as a crisis. The congressman criticized the Biden Administration for sustaining policies that, in his view, allow an estimated 10 thousand illegal border crossings per day.

Asserting the urgency of the situation, Rep. Rogers pointed out, “There is an invasion at our southern border, the Biden Administration is totally unwilling to address it, and the State of Texas has been left with no choice but to defend the border itself. Alabama stands with Texas, and I am wholeheartedly supportive of Governor Abbott’s efforts.”

The legal battle between Texas and the Biden Administration remains ongoing, with implications reaching beyond state borders. Rep. Rogers, through his support of the Amicus Brief, adds his voice to the chorus of those calling for a robust response to the challenges posed by the current state of affairs at the US-Mexico border.
