Calhoun County, AL – At approximately 2:54 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, the body of the individual who had gone missing on Neely Henry Lake near Ohatchee was recovered by members of the Pell City Dive Team. The individual has been identified as Mark C. Magouirk, 62, of Anniston. Magouirk was found approximately 20 feet from where he went missing near the Lakeshore Marina. It is believed that Magouirk fell into the water while fishing from a dock near the Marina.

The search and recovery efforts were coordinated by multiple agencies, including Troopers with ALEA’s Marine Patrol Division, Ohatchee Fire Department, Southside Fire Department, Etowah County Sheriff’s Office, Cherokee County Search and Rescue, North Alabama Search Dog Association, Pell City Dive Team, Rainbow City Fire Department, along with the Ohatchee Police Department.

Despite the collaborative efforts of these agencies, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Magouirk’s disappearance and death is still ongoing. At present, no further details have been released regarding the incident.
