Anniston Prepares for Brush and Leaf Pickup

Ward 4 Brush Pickup

Anniston, AL – Residents of Anniston are reminded to prepare for the upcoming brush and leaf pickup schedules as the city gears up for the transition into spring. Due to the approaching Good Friday holiday on March 29, 2024, the brush pickup crews will be adjusting their schedules accordingly.

In anticipation of the holiday, the brush pickup crews will commence their Week 4 routes in Ward 4 earlier than usual, starting on Friday, March 22, 2024. Citizens residing in Ward 4 are urged to ensure that any limbs or brush for pickup are placed on the curb as soon as possible to facilitate the collection process. Those uncertain about their ward can utilize the online map provided by the city, with Ward 4 marked in orange for easy identification.

The city’s street department has also outlined plans in the event that the brush crew completes their Ward 4 routes ahead of schedule. If time permits, they will circle back to the beginning of the Ward 4 route to collect any brush that may have been placed out late.

For reference, residents can consult the 2024 brush pickup calendar, which is color-coded by week corresponding to the designated wards. Additionally, a detailed PDF map is available for further clarity on the pickup schedule.

As the city transitions out of leaf season, residents are reminded that Monday, April 1, 2024, marks the commencement of the final sweep for loose leaf pickup. It is essential for residents to have their leaves ready for pickup by this date.

To ensure smooth collection, residents are advised to follow these guidelines:
1. Pile loose leaves at the edge of the yard, avoiding placement in the gutter to prevent drainage issues.
2. Consolidate leaves into a single pile rather than scattering them across the lot.
3. Keep leaves separate from brush or garbage piles to facilitate collection without disruption.

For residents preferring to have bagged leaves collected, work orders can be placed online or by phone. Detailed instructions for submitting work orders are provided on the city’s website.

All submitted work orders will be promptly processed by city staff, and residents can also contact the Public Works Department directly for assistance or inquiries regarding disposal days or pickup schedules.

As Anniston prepares for the seasonal transition, residents are encouraged to cooperate with the city’s efforts to maintain cleanliness and efficiency in waste management. By adhering to the outlined guidelines and schedules, residents can contribute to a cleaner and more organized community environment.
