Jacksonville State University Renews Commitment to Community Partnerships

Jacksonville, AL – Jacksonville State University (Jax State) reaffirms its dedication to fostering collaborative partnerships aimed at making a positive impact in communities throughout the surrounding areas. The university recently renewed agreements with The Chamber of Gadsden and Etowah County and the Calhoun County Area Chamber and Visitors Center for another three years, citing tremendous success and value in the ongoing partnership initiative.

“We’re incredibly grateful for what this opportunity means to our membership… It’s an incredible recruitment opportunity,” said Christi Robinson, President & CEO of the Etowah Chamber. Linda Hearn, Executive Director for the Calhoun County Area Chamber & Visitors Center, echoed the sentiment, stating, “The MOU between Jax State and the Calhoun County Area Chamber and Visitor Center shows that we are committed to our local economy,” emphasizing the commitment to the local workforce.

Jax State’s commitment to community collaboration continues as they prepare to formalize their 21st partnership with the Rainsville Chamber of Commerce on May 8. “I encourage chamber members and their employees to take advantage of this partnership,” said Dr. Don C. Killingsworth, Jr., Jax State President. “Reach out, learn what we have to offer and let us help you navigate your educational journey to earning your degree,” he added.

Since the launch of the corporate partnership program in 2021, Jax State has awarded 648 scholarships to 339 individual students, spanning various sectors, including education, industry, government, and nonprofit organizations.

Jessica Wiggins, Associate Vice President of Enrollment at Jax State, emphasized the impact of the scholarship partnership program, stating, “A scholarship partnership program not only opens doors to education but also empowers individuals to make a meaningful impact in their communities.” She added, “This program is only a small testament to our commitment to investing in our communities and corporate partners.”

Current Chamber of Commerce partners include Albertville, Arab, Calhoun County, Cherokee County, Etowah County, Fort Payne, Lake Guntersville, Leeds, Pell City, and Talladega/Lincoln Chambers of Commerce. A complete list of all partners can be found on the university’s website.
