Oxford, AL – The Choccolocco Monsters have made a significant addition to their coaching staff with the appointment of Roby Brooks as Director of Baseball Operations. The announcement, made today, marks a pivotal moment for the team as they gear up for the upcoming season in the wood bat Sunbelt Baseball League (SBL).

Brooks brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role, having excelled both as a player and a leader in the world of baseball. A standout athlete during his college years, Brooks played baseball at Jacksonville State University under the esteemed guidance of Coach Rudy Abbott from 1993 to 1996. His impressive performance on the field earned him the prestigious honor of being named First-Team All-Conference.

Notably, Brooks’s exceptional skills were showcased during the 1997 season when he set a team record for doubles with an impressive tally of 26. Additionally, he boasted an impressive batting average of .401, along with 59 RBIs and a remarkable 1.211 OPS.

Following his college career, Brooks continued to make waves in the baseball community, venturing into the Frontier League with the Waterbury (CT) Spirit. However, it was his dedication to advancing the sport through his travel baseball organization, Top Gun Baseball, that truly distinguished him as a leader in the field.

As the Owner and CEO of Top Gun Baseball, Brooks has played an instrumental role in nurturing young talent and helping athletes reach their full potential. The nationally-ranked organization provides individualized training to aspiring baseball players, honing their skills and preparing them for success on and off the field.

In his new role with the Choccolocco Monsters, Brooks will continue his mission of developing and guiding a team of collegiate players within the competitive landscape of the SBL. Officially recognized and supported by Major League Baseball, the SBL offers players the opportunity to showcase their talents and prepare for potential professional careers.

The Monsters are poised to return to Oxford for the 2024 SBL season, with their home opener scheduled for Friday, June 7th, at 7:05 pm CT against the Brookhaven Bucks. Tickets for the highly anticipated matchup are now available for purchase through the Choccolocco Park Ticket Office or online via the team’s official website. With Brooks at the helm, the Monsters are primed for an exciting and successful season ahead.
