Calhoun County, AL – Central Alabama CrimeStoppers has awarded Corporal Miranda Groth the title of Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office 2023 CrimeStoppers Officer of the Year, recognizing her exceptional contributions to law enforcement and public safety.
Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade praised Corporal Groth for her exemplary service and professional growth. “It is my honor to nominate Corporal Miranda Groth as our nominee for the CrimeStoppers Officer of the Year Award,” he wrote.
Corporal Groth has distinguished herself through her investigative and lifesaving abilities on numerous occasions. Notably, she played a key role in dismantling a criminal ring accused of robbing and stealing from Dollar General stores across the southeast. Her meticulous attention to detail and relentless pursuit of answers led to the identification of the suspects, aiding investigators in obtaining warrants. This crucial information was shared with other jurisdictions, resulting in additional warrants and indictments against the criminal group.
In addition to her investigative prowess, Corporal Groth has been commended for her life-saving efforts. During a call in Ohatchee, she assisted an Ohatchee Police Officer in searching for a male experiencing a narcotic overdose. Upon locating the individual in a field with a faint pulse and struggling to breathe, Corporal Groth administered two doses of Narcan and continued life-saving measures until emergency medical services arrived.
Corporal Groth is also an active member of the Calhoun County Crisis Negotiation Team and a recent graduate of the FBI Hostage Negotiation Course. As a field training officer, she routinely receives high praise from trainees for her demand for high performance and strict adherence to safety practices. Her efforts have been instrumental in preparing young deputies for solo patrol work.
Sheriff Wade emphasized Corporal Groth’s professional integrity and dedication to the community. “Cpl. Groth is professional, honest, ethical, and compassionate in her efforts to serve the citizens of Calhoun County. She helps set the standard for all Deputy Sheriffs to follow and is a valued member of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.”
