Oxford, AL — The Oxford Performing Arts Center (OPAC) is now accepting applications for its highly anticipated 2024 Theatre Camp and Live Production Workshop, offering youngsters a unique opportunity to work with performing arts professionals.
The Spotlight Summer Theatre Camp is tailored for students entering the first through eighth grades in Fall 2024. This exciting camp will allow children to explore various aspects of the performing arts, including dancing, singing, acting, and the visual arts. Campers will prepare for a main stage performance of “Sleeping Beauty – A Rock and Roll Fable for the Ages,” presented by the Missoula Children’s Theatre.
The camp will run from June 17 to June 21, with daily sessions from 8 a.m. to noon. The culminating performance will take place on Saturday, June 22, at the Oxford Performing Arts Center. The registration fee for the camp is $99 per child.
For students entering high school in Fall 2024, the Live Production Workshop offers a behind-the-scenes experience in the performing arts. Participants will learn the technical aspects of theater production, including lighting, sound, and stage management. The workshop provides hands-on learning with industry-standard equipment, emphasizing the importance of collaboration, problem-solving, and working under pressure.
These camps provide an enriching environment where young students can develop their artistic skills and gain valuable experience in the performing arts.
