A fire broke out this morning at the Coop deVille restaurant located at 401 Pelham Rd. According to Lee Batey, Jacksonville Fire Marshall, a 911 call was placed by a concerned citizen who reported seeing smoke coming from the roof. Jacksonville Fire Station 2 was dispatched and arrived within seconds due to the close proximity to the business.
Upon arrival the firefighters gained entry into the building and located the source of the fire. The fire was quickly contained and extinguished but there was heavy heat, smoke, and water damage stated Batey.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
