Carroll County, AL – A 39-year-old woman from Oxford, Alabama, identified as Brandy Rodgers, was pronounced dead at the scene of a collision on Interstate 20 in Georgia. According to the Georgia State Patrol, Rodgers was driving a white Honda when it collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer.
The accident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. on July 24, leading to the closure of all westbound lanes just past the Carrollton Street exit. Traffic was diverted off the highway at State Route 61, resulting in a backup that extended east of the Tyson Road overpass. U.S. 78, which runs parallel to I-20, also experienced congestion as drivers sought alternate routes.
All westbound lanes have since been reopened. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol. Further details will be provided as the investigation continues.
