Anniston, AL – Perennial Calhoun County Golf Tour contender Cole reaches semifinals of State Match Play at ACC. Wigington reaches quarterfinals in Senior Match Play
Calhoun County Golf Tour regular Ty Cole advanced to the Alabama Golf Association’s State Match Play semifinals Saturday at Anniston Country Club.
Cole, from Albertville, will play Fort Payne’s Blake Watts on Sunday. The winner will play either Nick Robillard or Will Patrick in Sunday’s final.
Cole, the No. 14 seed based on stroke-play qualifying, beat No. 3 seed John Bruce (Guntersville) 2 & 1 in the round of 16 and No. 6 seed Blaise Wilson (Cullman) 4 & 3 in the quarterfinals.
In the Senior Match Play, the eighth-seeded Gary Wigington (Anniston) beat No. 9 Chip Howell (Anniston) 2 up in the round of 16 then lost to Shawn Pritchett 1 up in the quarterfinals.
No. 2 seed Kevin Daugherty (Anniston) and No. 7 Ott Chandler (Anniston) lost in the round of 16.
