Calhoun County Gardening – Enhance Your Landscape with Vines: A Perennial Choice for Vertical Beauty and Long-Lasting Blooms

Vines

Calhoun County, AL –Every gardener should install at least one vine in your landscape. Why? Because a vine can be a perennial decision that creates instant vertical eye appeal. A vine enjoys the sunshine. And if you create a platform for the vine to grow on, it can continue yearly becoming mature with loads of blooming enjoyment. Some of my favorite vines for zone 7 are: Purple Jackmanii Clematis (perennial), Lavender Dwarf Amethyst Falls Wisteria (perennial), White Autumn Joy Clematis (perennial, blooms twice yearly), Yellow Margarita Jasmine (perennial, stays evergreen), Vining Red Mandevilla (potted, store indoors before frost). There are many colors and many options in landscape vines! Most blooming vines require sunshine. However, many vines will bloom in semi-shade receiving morning & afternoon sunlight (4-6 hours daily). Keep in mind to read the label because most vines produce the best continuance of blooming by receiving direct sunlight. Also, mulching and watering with drainage keeps the vine roots moist but prevents mold, decay, and rot. Anything you create for the vine to climb will work. So? If you are creative with the vertical appeal of vines, you will have years of landscape success.
