Anniston, AL – The Lush Garden in Anniston is set to host its first-ever “Rush to The Lush 5K” charity run on Saturday, September 21st, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM at The Lush Garden, located at 209 E 7th Street. The event promises a fun-filled morning of running, walking, and socializing — all for a great cause.
Participants can register for $25, with registration closing on September 19, 2024, at 11:59 PM. After the 19th the registration fee is $30 and does not include a t-shirt. The race offers an exciting twist: the finish line features a celebration with wine, making it a perfect event for fitness enthusiasts looking to unwind afterward. T-shirts will be guaranteed to those who register by September 12th.
Cotina Stroud, owner of The Lush Garden, shared her enthusiasm for the event in an interview with the Calhoun Journal. “I really want to focus on this being something The Lush Garden truly believes in and supports. The Legacy Club means a lot to kids and families in this community,” Stroud explained. Proceeds from the event will benefit The Legacy Club, a nonprofit organization founded in Jacksonville, Alabama, in 2004. The Legacy Club focuses on empowering young women in Calhoun County through leadership development, academic excellence, and character building.
In 2012, the organization expanded its reach by establishing “The Men of LEGACY,” founded by the late coach Sebastian D. Floyd, to provide mentorship and guidance for young men. The Legacy Club’s mission is to motivate, educate, and inspire students from 7th to 12th grade by offering mentorship programs, life skills development, field trips, and academic support. The goal is to provide young people with the tools they need to become confident leaders and responsible citizens.
