Senator Katie Britt Condemns Hamas, Reaffirms Support for Israel and Hostage Release Efforts

U.S. Senator Katie Britt Condemns Hamas’ Year-Long War Against Israel, Honors Victims of October 7

Washington D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) this week strongly condemned Hamas’ continued war against Israel and the ongoing captivity of hostages, including several Americans. In a statement, Senator Britt emphasized her unwavering commitment to Israel’s security and the return of every hostage held by Hamas.

Alongside Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and fellow Senate Republicans, Senator Britt introduced a resolution reaffirming support for Israel’s survival and calling for the immediate release of all hostages. The resolution denounces antisemitic violence and condemns the use of sexual violence by Iran-backed Hamas in the ongoing conflict. The senators also reiterated Israel’s right to self-defense and called for actions to prevent Hamas from reconstituting its forces in the region, ensuring such events are not repeated.

“One year after Hamas’ barbaric attack on Israel, we stand resolute in our unwavering support for the Jewish state and her right to defend herself. Today, we remember and honor the memory of the victims of that horrific day and renew our vow of ‘Never Again,’” said Senator Britt. “America must stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel – our great ally, friend, and partner – as she works to bring every single hostage home and permanently neutralize the threat of Hamas.”

Senator Britt has been a vocal advocate for Israel, especially following the October 7, 2023, attack by Hamas. She traveled to Israel with a bipartisan Senate delegation to demonstrate the U.S.’s strong support for the country.

In addition to the resolution, Senator Britt has co-sponsored legislation to combat rising antisemitism in the U.S. and advocated for stricter sanctions on Iran to curb its funding of terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. She also joined a bipartisan effort to pressure the United Nations to take stronger action in response to reports of sexual violence committed by Hamas during the conflict.

Earlier this year, Senator Britt expressed her support for Israel during a Senate floor speech following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress.
